We import every rug ourselves.
No trading company and no distributor stand between the mill and Rug Galleria. We work directly with the people who make our rugs, we're the importer of record on everything that arrives, and we test what we sell before it goes to market.
Rugs were part of this family before Rug Galleria was.
We didn't come to this looking for a product to sell — the trade came first. That's the experience Rug Galleria runs on: knowing which mills do the work well, what a rug should feel like off the loom, and where quality actually comes from, long before it reaches a showroom floor.
From mill to floor
Four things happen to every rug before it's ours to sell.
-
Choose the mill
We work directly with mills we've vetted for sustainable, responsible manufacturing — no trading company marking up the price in between.
-
Set the construction
Fiber, weave, and finish are decided upfront for each collection, from washable microfiber piles to flat, high-traffic weaves.
-
Test it
Every collection is lab-tested against the federal flammability standard for rugs before it's sold.
-
Import it ourselves
Rug Galleria is the importer of record on every container. We're not buying from someone else's import.
Three ways we build a rug
Every collection we carry falls into one of these constructions. The right one depends on the room it's going into, not on which one we'd rather sell.
Traditional pile
Dense, patterned pile in medallion and tribal designs — the look people associate with a rug their grandparents would have owned, made on modern looms.
Washable microfiber
A lower, softer pile in a poly-cotton blend built to go through a washing machine without falling apart. Made for rooms real life happens in.
Flatweave
No pile at all — just a tight, flat weave that lies close to the floor and holds up to heavy foot traffic in entries and hallways.
Tested, not just imported
Every collection we carry passes lab testing against the federal flammability standard for rugs before it's offered for sale, and every mill we work with is chosen for sustainable, responsible manufacturing as well as the quality of what comes off the loom.
